MCA TO PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION FOR FIRST NATIONS COUNT MARCH

The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne (MCA) would like to inform the community that on Friday, October 9, 2015, the First Nations Count March will be held in Montreal, Quebec at 12:00 p.m. The MCA will be providing transportation for interested community members and will have a pick up at the Peace Tree Trade Centre on Kawehno:ke at 9 a.m.

The First Nations Count March was organized by First Nations in Quebec and Labrador who are still waiting for a clear commitment from all the main political parties on how they intend to reestablish a true relationship with their Peoples. The campaign is continuing with an all too familiar indifference for First Nations issues.

After a special meeting convened by AFNQL, leaders concluded that it is time to take action, to make it clear to Canadians that First Nations and their issues count, and to remind individuals that the next elected Government on October 19, 2015 will need to prioritize our issues. Due to this, a day of action, with a gathering and march uniting Chiefs, representatives and the members of their Nations will take place on Friday, October 9, 2015 in downtown Montreal.
