A Voice from the Eastern Door
On Saturday, September 26, 2015 the Twinleaf Cruisers Car Club held a cruise-in at the Akwesasne Trading Post. From 11am to 4pm, beautiful cars packed the parking lot with over 90 cars registered. The event had prizes and trophies, a chicken and rib barbecue, 50/50 raffle and Bruce and the Boys played tunes from the 50's and 60's, which perfected the atmosphere of the event.
Cruisers Car Club member John Herne said, "We have old cars, new cars and cars in between. We meet during the summer every Wednesday night at 6:00pm at Twinleaf and this is our last get together of the summer. We have a band, food, a 50/50 and tons of giveaways."
Every Wednesday during the summer when they meet at Twinleaf, they get 10% off at the restaurant, any size ice cream for $1 and there is a drawing for prizes like t-shirts or coolers.
Member Jay Herne said it started with about 10 of them half way through the summer of last year. "We would go to car clubs all over and we thought 'Why don't we have one here?' Today's cruise-in is amazing, it is a beautiful day to show off your car and go for a ride," said Jay. This year was the car club's first full year and it has certainly grown.
There were cars from all over the North County from Bangor to Malone, Cornwall to Potsdam. The Youth Business Fair also had booths at the event.
