A Voice from the Eastern Door
On Friday, September 25, 2015, Dreamcatcher Studio held its grand opening. There was a beautiful spread of food for those who stopped by and information about all the things Dreamcatcher Studio will be offering the community. APTN's Dream Big episode featuring Jaiden Mitchell, Dreamcatcher Studio Talent Agent, was also shown during the event.
For a cost, Dreamcatcher will offer things like advanced acting classes, video auditions, and representation to those who don't have an agent. But for those that don't know if they are into acting, Dreamcatcher Studio, in partnership with the Native North American Travelling College and Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, has started the Akwesasne Drama Club.
This is a free club. Owner of Dreamcatcher Studio Shelby Mitchell-Adams said, "The Drama Club will allow people to try out acting for free to see if they like acting before buying acting classes. If you love it, you can go further with our agency for film and TV."
Dreamcatcher's is working with the Travelling College because they will have a theatre. They are also working with them on their drama classes. And for those who may not like acting, the drama club will give people an opportunity to see what behind the scenes is like. They can do things like set design or lights. Sign ups are still open for the Akwesasne Drama Club.
For the more advanced, and people who know they are into acting/modeling, Dreamcatcher Studio will offer weekend audition classes, headshots, actor cards, web hosting as well as video auditions, coaching and Skype auditions.
The building can also be used as a casting facility for other productions, and will also be available for rent for events like meetings or parties.
One upcoming event at Dreamcatcher Studio is the Akwesasne Intensive Workshop 2 Day Audition course with actress Jaiden Mitchell. It will be held at Dreamcatcher Studio on Saturday and Sunday October 10 and 11 from 11am-2pm. The course is for ages 4-13 years old and they are taking people for the course until Wednesday, October 7.
Dreamcatcher Studio is located at 160 Snye School Road. Their business hours are Thursday 6-9, Friday 6-9, Saturday and Sunday 11-5, unless the facility is rented. They have a Facebook and a website: http://www.dreamcatcherstudio4filmntv.com.
