CLARA J. LAZORE-KING

AKWESASNE – Mrs. Clara Jean Lazore-King, 78, of 17 Park Street, St. Regis, passed away Thursday morning, August 27, 2015 at Cornwall Community Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past few years.

Clara was born February 17, 1937 in Hogansburg, a twin daughter to Albert and Margaret Tarbell Lazore, and attended schools in Hogansburg. On February 15, 1955, she married Abraham King at the St. Regis Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Jacobs officiating. Abraham predeceased her on September 7, 1989.

Clara was a homemaker, who dedicated her life to raising her children. She sang with "The Thundertones" for many years and especially loved to sing Patsy Cline and Kitty Wells songs. Clara was also an avid CB Ham Radio operator having belonged to the "Mohawk Smoke Signals" with the call name of Country Girl. She also enjoyed baking pies.

She is survived by her children, Rudy King and his wife Nancy Oakes-King of Akwesasne, QC; Jason King and his companion, Odie Garrow of Akwesasne; Valerie, Sandra, and Ashley King of Akwesasne, QC; her grandchildren, Nathan, Sharon, Rudy Jr., Cameron, Tawit, and Karhiio; a chosen grandson, Xavier; and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin brother, Clark Lazore of Hogansburg, another brother, Henry Lazore of Corning, NY; her uncle, Freeman Lazore of Hogansburg; her godchildren, Veronica Thompson and Randy Square; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Shayne King on July 3, 2013; her sisters, Rita Thompson and Delores Herne; her brothers, John A. Cook, Donald "Muzzy" Cook, PFC William L. Cook; and chosen sisters, Mary Louise White and Pearl Cook Taracka.

Friends called at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, on Saturday and Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday at St. Regis Catholic Church. Burial followed in Kateri Cemetery.
