Ashley Callingbull-Burnham, Cree Nation Wins Mrs. Universe Title

On Saturday, August 29, 2015, Ashley Callingbull-Burnham made history by winning the Mrs. Universe title. Becoming the first, First Nations woman and the first Canadian woman to win this title has made her famous overnight. Callingbull-Burnham is from the Enoch Cree Nation in Alberta, Canada. Crowned in Minsk, Belarus on Saturday night, Callingbull-Burnham is using her role to speak out against stereotypes and to call attention to indigenous issues in Canada.
