Salmon River Central School Class of 1974 - Class of 1975 - Class of 1976 Joint Reunion ~ August 7-9, 2015

AUGUST 4, 2015 - A unique high school class reunion is being held involving graduates from Salmon River Central High School. The Reunion is being done jointly between the graduating classes of 1974, 1975 and 1976. This potentially involves nearly 400 former students who will be celebrating their respective 41st, 40th and 39th anniversaries of their graduations.

The reunion will include a series of activities over the weekend where the students and their families (including adult children and/or grandchildren) will have opportunities to meet and reconnect:

1) Welcoming reception, Friday evening, August 7th at the SRCS Cafeteria from 5:00-8:00 pm

A visit to the school grounds where there will be an opportunity to recognize all the former teachers that are able to attend and to honor the family of former principal Jesse Sherwood.

“Our education and our life’s were shaped by the dedicated teachers and administrators from the mid-70s and we wanted to take a moment to thank them as we reflect on what it was like to be a young adult in this building.” said Sandra Miller, Class of 74 and a member of the volunteer planning group.

2) Reunion Party, Saturday evening, August 8th at Cedar View Golf Club, starting at 7pm

Gather with classmates and spouses, win prizes, and receive a commemorative gift with entertainment provided by Class of 74 alumni Bryan Garrow.

“We all had such a good time when we did this type of evening event jointly with the class of 74 at our last reunion 5 years ago that we just had to do it again. Its such a wonderful chance to see people you haven’t seen in so many years.” said Brenda Knox, Class of 75 and a member of the volunteer planning group.

3) Memorial Mass, Sunday morning, August 9th at the St. Regis Catholic Church at 10 am

Say a prayer for our former classmates at a mass dedicated to their memory.

“Sadly we have lost over 40 classmates from the three classes in addition to a number of close calls where that number could easily have gone up. So we wanted to make sure we pay our respects to our friends and their families.” said Hope Wheelock, Class of 76 and a member of the volunteer planning group.

4) Family Barbecue, Sunday morning, Generations Park in Hogansburg, starting at 11:30 am

Bring the weekend to a close with a picnic and children’s entertainment in the park located between the Tribal Justice building, Seniors Center and Kateri Hall.

“Over the years we have heard so much about the children, and yes, the grandchildren of our classmates that we wanted to make sure to include a family oriented event to wrap up the weekend and as everyone begins to make their way back to their homes.” said Scott Jock, Class of 74 and a member of the volunteer planning group

As details are being finalized both Volunteers and Donations are still welcome. Classmates are encouraged to join the Facebook group where updates are being posted and messages can be sent. “Salmon River Classes of 1974, 1975 and 1976 Reunion in 2015.”

Donations can be sent to Hope Wheelock who is serving as treasurer for the joint reunion events.

“The response so far has been very good but I want to encourage everyone to come on out to as many of the events as they can. This literally could be our last chance to celebrate what we have accomplished as SRCS graduates.” said Cyndi Hanley, Class of 74 and member of the volunteer planning group.
