STRONG ROOTS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION HOSTS FIRST ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

AKWESASNE – The Strong Roots Charitable Foundation was created with a vision to shape the future of the Akwesasne community by growing our youth into future leaders in a healthy and safe environment. The Foundation is designed to provide a funding stream for needs within the Akwesasne community that focus on our youth, our elders, and our overall community health and safety.

With their vision in mind, the foundation held their first event on July 17, 2015; a benefit golf tournament. With the generosity of local businesses, vendors who do business on territory, and avid golfers the first annual tournament was a huge success. The foundation was able to raise over $30,000 that will be utilized to support projects in the upcoming year. Strong Roots founder Carey Terrance came up with the concept after seeing first-hand the need for a roof on the Travis Solomon Memorial Box Arena at Generations Park. Carey through his company CAA Management will be supporting this effort this fall. Strong Roots has been designed to help projects within the community such as this that benefit the health and safety of our community.
