The Snake Island Muskies lost their last two games, each against the visiting Vermont Voyageurs at Cornwall’s Benson Centre.
Their record stands at 8-6, smack dab in the middle of the Quebec Senior B Lacrosse League standings.
On Saturday, July 11, the Muskies played an even game through regulation before dropping the contest in overtime 12-10.
Snake Island ended the first period behind 4-3, outscored 5-4 in the second and closed the third period scoring 2-all. Voyageur Greg Rigowski chipped in the game-winner plus the insurance goal in sudden death.
Snake Island’s Ky Tarbell scored a game-high two goals and three assists. Cody Kilcoyne had four goals. Joe Hall had a goal and two assists. Shane Francis tallied three helpers. Raweras Mitchell scored once and assisted once. Clayton Barnes and Kariwate Mitchell each scored once. Trey Adams manned the crease for 70 minutes and added a loss to his record.
On the following evening, the Muskies fell behind early on and never regained momentum with the scoreboard reading 13-9 after three periods.
Vermont jumped out to an early 3-1 lead, outscoring 6-4 in the middle frame. The teams each scored four goals in the closing stanza.
Lee Thomas tallied a goal and three assists. Jordan Thomas and Cody Kilcoyne each had two goals and one assist. Joe Hall scored twice. Trent Jacobs assisted two plays. Kariwate Mitchell and Chad Thompson each scored singletons. Tekari Thompson fashioned a solo helper.
Trey Adams covered the net for 60 minutes and the loss.
