Snake Island Muskies Drop One

The Snake Island Muskies dropped their 2015 record to 5-4 after losing to the Ottawa Axemen on Sunday, June 28.

The Axemen led 3-1 after the first period, then outscored 7-2 in the middle stanza, working their way to a 14-5 win. Joe Hall led the Muskies offense with three goals and an assist. Lee Thomas scored twice and assisted once. Shane Francis tallied a pair of helpers. Scott Thompson, Jordan Thomas, Kariwate Mitchell and Cody Kilcoyne contributed solo assists. Trey Adams manned the goal for 53 minutes and Raphael Stooke took over for seven. Each added a loss to their record.

Axemen Kedoh Alex Hill (four goals, one assist) and Ryan Dewar (one goal, four assists) each had five points, a game-high. Callum Crawford (three goals, one assist) and Raj Wasson (one goal, three assists) each had four points. Thor Grant finished with two goals and a helper. Kenny Blake (two assists) and Dan Gawne (goal, assist) each had two points. Mark Vrandenburg and Jore Phoenix scored singletons. Nevin Sullivan, Todd Chapman and Sam Bradmen each recorded an assist.

Chris Collins and Chris Chubeck split goaltending detail and each gained a win.

The Muskies were to have played the Kahnawake Tomahawks on July 1 at Anowarakowa Arena. The teams will meet again Saturday, July 4 at Cornwall’s Benson Centre. Snake Island will play the Tyendinaga Wolfpack July 5 at Deseronto Rec Centre. The game makes up for a June 27 postponement.
