A Voice from the Eastern Door

Fatherhood Day at Generations

Local dads were celebrated in Hogansburg over the weekend as Fathers from all over Indian Country were recognized on this Fathers Day weekend.

The International Native American Responsible Fatherhood Day was held last Saturday, the day before Fathers Day, at Generations Park in Hogansburg. The day is in its third year.

There was plenty to do from playing basketball, horseshoes, lacrosse, softball, frisbee toss and water sliding for the young ones, as well as arts and crafts. They painted and decorated birdhouses and seemed to have a fun time doing so.

Various drawings were held for items having to do with outdoor fun and a free buffet was served.

The event was sponsored by the SRMT's Traditional Support, ICWA, Prevention/Foster Care, Police, Adult Child Protective Services, Akwesasne Group Home, IPP, Child Support Enforcement Unit and MCA's AFWP, Wholistic Heath, ACFS and Community Health Program.
