4-H Super Summer Sizzlers Day's

Hooray school is out! But before long, the children will be exclaiming, “I’m bored” or “there is nothing to do.” Contrary to this belief, the 4-H Tribal Mentoring Program for Salmon River Central and St. Regis Mohawk School’s enrolled 5th Grade through High School 4-H youth will be able to participate in Super Summer Sizzler’s Days.

On five days this summer, the enrolled 4-H Mighty Shamrocks and Little Mohawks will be able to register and attend any or all of the programs. Parents are encouraged to make sure their 4-H enrolled youth are registered for each of the events.

Scheduled for Monday, July 6th @ Westville Community Park from 8am till 4pm, youth will be able to participate in Fishing, Crafts and Shooting Sports. A 4-H Certified Shoot Sports instructor will be providing safety instruction and an opportunity for shooting an air rifle. A craft table, interactive games and lunch will be available. Youth will need to furnish a ride to and from this location.

On Friday, July 17th at Generations Park in Akwesasne from 1pm till 6pm, the 4-H youth will have the opportunity to participate in the Shooting Sport of Archery. In addition, the youth will be able to make a dream catcher and participate in cooperative games. Beginning at 4pm till 6pm, a family picnic will take place. Families are urged to bring a dish to share. Beverages, burgers and dogs will be available. Youth will need to furnish a ride to and from this location.

On Friday, July 31st at Rainbow Park in Fort Covington from 8am till 4pm, youth will be engaged in a treasure hunt that involves the use of Global Positioning device for Geocaching. In addition, the youth will be able to tie-dye a shirt in a rainbow of colors. Crafts, games and lunch will be available. Youth will need to furnish a ride to and from this location.

On Monday, August 10th, the enrolled 4-H Mentoring youth will be able to board a bus at Salmon River Central School at 8am at Door 13th. Here the youth will be going to the Franklin County Fair in Malone. At the fair, the youth will have the opportunity to participate in free activities in the 4-H Youth Building, visit the various animal and conservation exhibits. An allotted amount of time will be provided to enable the youth to participate with rides and games on the mid-way. Youth will need the access to supplemental funds for the mid-way. Lunch will be provided. The bus will return to Salmon River at 4pm.

On Friday, August 21st, the 4-H youth will be able to meet a bus at Salmon River Central School Door 13 at 8am. On this day, the bus will travel to Lake Meacham Beach to enjoy one of the few remaining days of summer vacation. Mentor and Mentee will engage in a four way tug of war, water games and picnic. Parents are encouraged to make sure youth are provided with sun-block. The bus will be returning to Salmon River at 4pm.
