A Voice from the Eastern Door

Mohawk International Raceway News

With an entire day of continuous rain, Mohawk International Raceway officials canceled the program on Friday, June 12, which included the second round of the Frenchie’s Ford Drive One Sportsman Series. The second series race of the season has been reset to July 9, when the Big Block Modified Super DirtCar Series comes to town. The event will also feature, much like the Super DirtCar Series, a redraw for the top 12 drivers after the qualifying heat events.

After rain washed out the previous week’s Empire Super Sprint show on June 5, MIR officials rescheduled that event to July 24. The cars and stars of the Empire Super Sprints will also join a full show, which includes the fourth round of the Seaway GM Sportsman Series. Officials expect that event to draw upwards of 40 drivers attempting to qualify. The 358 Modifieds, Bandits and Mod Lites will also be in action that night.

Barring a repeat of recent weather, Brass Horse Grill will present a the Quebec Lightning Sprints plus Modifieds, Sportsman, Sportsman Novice, Mod Lites and Bandits. Officials say the green flag drops at 7:30 p.m.
