A Voice from the Eastern Door
The 2015 season is underway with plenty of softball action at local diamonds. This year the league revamped the schedule and games are held in doubleheaders on Sundays, but in some cases not on the same field.
A team will play at 4:00 in Bombay for example and then upon completion will run to the Legion or Frogtown field and play another game at 6:00. Other fields are the St. Regis Recreation, Tsi Snaihne Recreation field, Salmon River Central School and Fort Covington.
The League shuts down the tournament weekends for the Akwesasne Freedom School tournament, the Louie King Memorial tournament at the Legion, Tina's Pride tournament and the Sheyenne Smoke Memorial tournament.
Players in this co-ed league also play on other teams in Massena and Malone during the week.
The Co-ed teams are Pawn Shop, St. Boys, Hit Squad, Saint Cardinals, 37 West, Tony's, Warriors, Bone Crushers, Duck Lips, District V, Mediocre Joes and Mustang Sally's.
There will be a new championship team for this season as The Braves won it all last season. They beat out the St. Boys in the final but they did not field a team for 2015.
