Boys Lacrosse

The Massena Red Raiders fashioned wide victories against Northwood Prep and Ogdensburg Free Academy.

They defeated Northwood 15-5 on April 30.

Kendrick Angus, who also had three assists, and Cole Allen were offensive leaders with three goals each. Nick Henrie scored twice and had a pair of assists. Hunter Pyke and J.P. Chauvin each scored twice. Sako Rourke had five assists. Kyren Sunday and Montana Pierce each scored once.

Tyler Armstong made nine saves.

The Raiders defeated visiting OFA 21-5 on April 28.

The teams were tied 2-2 after the opening frame, but the Raiders took off, building an 11-4 lead at the half.

Sako Rourke scored four times. Kendrick Angus struck for three goals and fashioned two assists. Brendan Broderick tossed a hat trick. Cole Allen (two assists), Evan Kassian (one assist), Jeffrey Bain (one assist) and Dalton Mullin each scored once.

Tyler Armstrong denied eight scoring attempts.

Girls Lacrosse

The Massena Lady Raiders lacrosse team took their last two matches over Ogdensburg Free Academy and Saranac Lake.

After finishing the first two periods with an 8-6 lead, the Lady Raiders stepped up their offense in the second half to claim an 18-7 final tally over OFA on Thursday, April 30.

Devin Kelly led the offense with four goals and three assists. Alannah Pyke and Shanley Burke each scored hat tricks. Abbey LaClair, who tallied an assist, scored two goals, as did Courtney Manley and Blayke Gibson. Cayla Hinkley and Abby Johnson each scored single goals. Krysten Stone logged a solo helper.

Felicity Love worked the Massena crease for eight saves.

OFA’s Danielle Guimond led their scoresheet with four goals and an assist. Taylor Smith, Sky Hooper and Kaylee L’Orange each scored once.

Marissa Foster denied seven Massena scoring attempts.

The previous afternoon saw Massena victorious over Saranac Lake 6-5.

They were tied 2-2 at the half and tied 5-5 with 1:30 left when Krysten Stone broke the stalemate for the game-winning goal, her second of the day.

Alannah Pyke scored two goals. Shanley Burke scored once.

Softball

The Massena Lady Raiders softball team fashioned two 12-run rallies to beat the Potsdam Sandstoners 27-2 on April 28.

Reaghan Peets pitched the win, striking out six with no walks.

Bailey Dillabough went 3-5 at bat, including a grand slam homerun and scoring four times herself. Abbey Paduano went 3-3 at bat with a double, scoring twice. Kelly Southwick went 2-3 and scored three times. Brittany Streeter hit once and scored five runs. Alissa Eubanks hit a single and crossed home plate once.

Baseball

The Massena Red Raiders won three of their last four contests on the baseball diamond, defeating Salmon River, Canton and Potsdam while falling to Norwood-Norfolk.

Both the offense and defense shined against Canton, besting them 13-0 on May 1.

Pitcher Jacob Vierno hurled a perfect game, striking out six and walking two.

Bailey Hewitt had three hits, scoring twice and driving in four. Isaac Ward came through with a trio of hits and a pair of runs. Logan Deshane had an RBI, a double, a single and crossed the plate once. Jayce Lanning recorded two singles, three runs and two RBIs.

The Norwood-Norfolk Flyers got the better of the Raiders the previous afternoon, claiming a 6-1 decision.

Isaiah Dillabough took the mound through the fifth inning, finishing with four strike outs, two walks and giving up four hits. Patrick Manning had a double. Josh LaShomb batted in an RBI single. Logan Deshane, Ethan Marcello, Bailey Hewlett and Bailey LaBarge fashioned single hits each.

On April 29, the Raiders defeated host Salmon River 10-5.

Isaac Ward had three hits while Bailey LaBarge and Patrick Manning each had two hits. Isaiah Dillabough hit a double that drove in two runs.

On April 28, the Raiders came back from their first division loss to triumph over visiting Potsdam 12-1.

Jacob Vierno pitched five innings, picking up the win. He struck out 10 batters, walking none.

Isaiah Dillabough pounded in three hits, including a three-run triple. Isaac Ward had a single, a double two RBIs and two runs. Ethan Marcello had a pair of hits, one of which was a double, and crossed the plate once.
