On March 15th the Akwesasne Wild atoms headed to Mississauga Ont. for the 44th annual Little NHL. The Wild started the tournament of against a feisty Six Nations Blackhawks team but the Wild's skating and crisp passes and strong defense held the
Blackhawks off the board. The game ended 5 to 0 for the Wild.
In the 2nd game of round robin play the Wild played a much stronger team from Moose Cree, the Wild found their goal scoring touch late in the game to clinch a 4 to 2 victory over the ThunderChiefs.
In quarter final action the Wild knocked of the Nippissing Warriors 11 to 1.
On Wednesday hockey fans got to witness one heck of a hockey game as AOK Eagles and the Wild battled for a period and half of scoreless hockey. Wild netminder Crayton Cree put up a brick wall of a performance to hold off the Eagles pressing offense. Late in the 2nd the Wild broke the game open with 2 goals and another 2 in the third. Final score Wild 4 Eagles 1. Off to the Hershey Center for the Wild, Championship action which
turned out to be another fast paced game vs. Delaware. In the end the Wild defeated Delaware 2 to 1 to win the 2015 LNHL Atom title. For many players on the Wild it is back-to-back championships at LNHL representing Akwesasne as some won the previous year in novice. This year's title adds Akwesasne's name once again to the Atom trophy, as it was won by the Akwesasne HotShots in 2004.
A big thank you goes out to all those that supported the Wild with fundraisers and sponsorship.
