Let's Get Healthy and National Nutrition Month

The Let's Get Healthy Program celebrated National Nutrition Month in March by hosting a variety of food & nutrition events. On March 3rd Youth Fitness Program made a DIY trail mix, and on March 11- Over 30 community members stopped by the Diabetes Center for Excellence theatre kitchen to participate in a Smoothie making demonstration and got to make a smoothie to take with them. Then on March 19- Heather Pontius and Steevi King partnered with the St. Regis Mohawk School first grade classes to read a Dr. Seuss book, enjoy a healthy snack and play some fitness games. March 20- 5 participants participated in a make your own granola and granola bar Cooking Demonstration at the Diabetes Center for Excellence theatre kitchen. The last event was held on March 24 with their Diabetes Alert Day – healthy snacks including homemade granola and broccomole, a lower calorie version of guacamole.
