Akwesasne Wolves Novice B League Champs 2015

The final champion team to take a victory lap around the Anowarako:wa rink for the season were the Wolves Novice "B" team.

Last week they edged Char-Lan for the Championship 1-0 to win the three game series.

Ryder Sunday scored the only goal for the win in the first period as he tipped in a shot from Dayne Thomas.

Char-Lan almost got on the board early in the second as the puck was in the crease two times before being batted away by goalie Keegan Delormier or one of his defenseman.

The visitors' Colby Lauzon had an excellent chance to tie as he had a breakaway with a minute left in the second, but the Wolves Oscar Cook got back and tied him up.

Late in the third Lauzon had another chance to score as he went on a breakaway from center ice using some finesse moves, but Delormier stopped his drive and smothered the puck. Char-Lan pulled their goalie late in the third but the Wolves held on for the win.

Lower St. Lawrence Minor Hockey League President Marc Richer was on hand to present the trophy and the championship to the Wolves who finished first in their division with a 41-10-5 record. The Wolves also placed first in the league.

The team was coached by Toby Sunday and Angela Caldwell and their Manager was Lani Sunday.
