A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Akwesasne Epilepsy Support Group would like to send out a big Thank You to everyone who supported Purple Day-Epilepsy Awareness Day Around the World on March 26th by wearing their purple! Each day we’re hoping someone new becomes aware of this condition and how important raising awareness is. We’d also like to thank everyone who stopped in at our bake sale to purchase some baked goods, buy a raffle ticket or to lend support in any way.
We’d like to thank the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe for the use of the lobby. The members from the support group, old & new, who came out to help: Theresa Martin, Cami Compeau, Sherry Roundpoint, Wanda Jacobs, Carrie Jacobs, Carson Oakes, Dustin Oakes, Wallace Jacobs Jr., Alison Cooke. Also thanks to Indian Time newspaper & CKON Radio.
The bake sale was a huge success and couldn’t be possible without the hard work of our group volunteers and the following donations of baked goods from: Kana Fox, Sherry Roundpoint , Theresa Gardner, Lisa Cook, Jennifer Lauzon, Diane Miller and Rita Saumier! Words cannot express the gratitude when we saw all the baked goods from everyone! Once again a huge Niawen ko:wa to everyone involved!
