A Voice from the Eastern Door
By Alexandra David
As Massena wrestlers made their way home on Sunday morning, little did they know plans were being made, phones were ringing and fans were making plans!
The boys were met by a group of fans and parents at the HAVFD on Route 37 where they were escorted by both the Hogansburg Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department and the St. Regis Mohawk Tribal Police to Massena, meeting groups of supporters parked on Route 37 along the way! In Massena they were met by Massena Police, Fire and Rescue who escorted Nolan and his teammates through downtown Massena where the streets were lined with fans and friends, holding signs and balloons, honking horns and cheering for the entire team and its champion. The route ended at the high school where they were met by more family and friends, the Varsity Girls Hockey Team State Champions and members of the Massena Junior Wrestling Program.
It was such an amazing day to be a part of, two communities coming together to support a team and its champion. Thank you to both communities for supporting Massena Wrestlers and Nolan Terrance. Thank you to everyone who came out, thank you to all the departments who escorted us from Akwesasne to Massena. You have made that day one those boys will never forget!!
