Annual Salary: HSW 08 - $38,254.94 - $39,785.14
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Care, Registered Nurse, and Registered Practical Nurse, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for providing direct resident personal care and assisting residents in all activities of daily living in accordance with the Long Term Care Homes Act and all other legislations. The PSW will provide for the individual needs of the assigned residents in accordance with the residents health care plan which maintains or contributes to their quality of life. PSW’s promote optimum level of functioning physically, emotionally, intellectually, and spiritually. Personal Support Workers are unregulated health care providers. They work as a member of the health care/service team under the supervision of a regulated health professional or supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Successful completion of Personal Support Worker College Certification with 1 year work experience in caring for the elderly in a Long Term Care setting. Compliance with MCA Public Health policies required by obtaining Hepatitis, Influenza Vaccine and submitting recent TB results required. Must have updated certifications in First Aid and CPR Level C.
Must be able to lift and transfer residents and able to work under conditions requiring constant standing, walking, bending and stretching. Must be able to work some weekends and holidays in accordance with the scheduling needs of the facility. Ability to communicate well with others; Dependable and honest; able to understand and maintain confidentiality. Effective communication and problem-solving skills. Mohawk language an asset.
