MASSENA – Mrs. Joyce H. Terrance, 76, of 142 Rooseveltown Road, passed away Tuesday morning, February 17, 2015 at Massena Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Joyce was born October 4, 1938 in Attica, New York, the daughter of the late Carl Iver and Helen Allen Johnson, and graduated from Holley High School. On March 11, 1954 she married Raymond D. Terrance in Rochester. He predeceased her on August 7, 1983.
Joyce was a homemaker and once worked at Bausch and Lomb in Rochester. She attended the New Life Christian Church and enjoyed doing puzzles, beadwork, and fishing. She also enjoyed baking and spending precious time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her seven children, Truman and Debbie Terrance of Akwesasne; Danny and Estel Terrance of Constable; Dianne Terrance of Akwesasne; Keith Terrance of Akwesasne; Carl Terrance of Massena; Rose and Jerry Oakes of Snye, Quebec; and Jackie and Wayne Papineau of Akwesasne. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; her sisters, Ardie Mandez of Rochester, Carol Johnson of South Carolina and Ardella Cruz of South Carolina; her brothers, Norman Johnson of Florida, Ronald Johnson of California, and Gary Klymn of Rochester; a chosen sister, Shine Laffin of Akwesasne; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Joyce was predeceased by three infants, a infant daughter, Christine Robin Terrance, and infant son, Bernie Terrance; two grandsons, Gerald Oakes, Jr. and Jacob L. Terrance-Stehlin; and a brother, Robert Johnson.
Friends may call at the New Life Christian Church beginning 6:00 PM Wednesday until the time of the service. Funeral services will be held Friday 2:00 PM at the New Life Christian Church with Pastor Willie Jock and Asst. Pastor Roy Burns officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Holley, New York.
