As the first activity for the Akwesasne Winter Carnival 2015, famous artist Wilson Bickford, from the "Painting with Wilson Bickford" television program instructed the class at the Kateri Hall. The "Painting with Wilson Bickford" show airs on Monday at 1:30pm locally in Northern New York. Johanne Jackson, well known herself for her paintings, brought in Bickford after seeing how many people were interested since last year's Winter Carnival's painting class as so successful. The class was well attended by at 20 promising painters. All art supplies were provided for this class. Bickford completed a painting during the class and donated the painting back the Akwesasne Winter Carnival Committee. This original painting will be used for one of the many raffles throughout Winter Carnival Week. The Akwesasne Winter Carnival 2015 activities take place throughout this weekend., most taking place at the St. Regis Mohawk School.
