AKWESASNE – Agnes E. Sharrow, 85, formerly of Sweet Grass Manor, passed away Wednesday evening, January 28, 2015 at TSIIONKWANONHSO:TE, Cornwall Island Long Term Care Facility, where she had been a resident for the past few years.
Agnes was born September 19, 1929, in Lyons Falls, NY, daughter of the late Richard and Margaret Sam Sharrow. She graduated from high school and attended a local business college. She first worked in the office of Carborundum in Niagara Falls, before going to work as a bookkeeper for BP until her retirement to care for her elderly parents.
After the death of her parents, she moved back to Akwesasne and attended New Life Christian Church with Pastor Willie Jock, and enjoyed sewing, reading, watching football, and was a New England Patriots fan.
Agnes is survived by many nieces and nephews, Lorraine Buckshot-Oakes of Cornwall Island; Gabriel and Pauline Sharrow of Kahnawake; Kenneth and Wanda Sharrow of Cornwall Island; Denise and Randy Richardson of Niagara Falls; Elaine and Robby Williams of South Carolina; Lorna and Harry Werner of Virginia, Laura Sharrow of Niagara Falls, and Ralph Sharrow of Niagara Falls; and her dear friends Willie and Sandi Jock, Akwesasne.
She was predeceased by five brothers, David, Paul, Richard, Tony and John Sharrow.
Friends called at the Donaldson Funeral Home on Saturday, and a prayer service was held with Pastor Willie Jock presiding. Calling hours and funeral services were held Monday at the Rhoney Funeral Home, 5893 Hoover Road, Sanborn. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given in Agnes' memory to the New Life Christian Church.
