AKWESASNE AND NORTH COUNTRY CHAMBERS TO LAUNCH PARTNERSHIP

The Akwesasne Chamber of Commerce and the North Country Chamber of Commerce have announced a Partnership Agreement which will bring a number of new business services to Akwesasne and strengthen economic development across the broader North Country region.

"Our mission is to promote the economy of Akwesasne," stated Dwayne Thomas, Business Leader for the Akwesasne Chamber. "We want to bring awareness to our community and the surrounding areas of what Akwesasne has to offer, and promote success for our business community. This partnership with the North Country Chamber will help us to achieve our goals and will bring real value to our businesses and our community."

"We are excited about the opportunity this presents to support the Akwesasne business community and economy," stated Garry Douglas, President of the North Country Chamber. "Under this new partnership, we will be making a number of our business services available to Akwesasne businesses, from health insurance to an electricity cost savings program to small business support, as well as economic development support whenever possible. And we will help to build connections with the business community across the entire North Country."

The North Country Chamber of Commerce is the largest business and economic development organization in northern New York, linking more than 4,200 businesses across Franklin, Clinton, Essex, Hamilton and northern Warren Counties and southern Quebec. Twelve other community chambers and business organizations have partnerships with the North Country Chamber including Malone, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Lake Placid, Whiteface, Schroon Lake, Ticonderoga, Indian Lake, Speculator, Inlet, North Warren and Stony Creek, and they also have Partnership Agreements with the Montreal Board of Trade and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Quebec.

Representatives of Akwesasne businesses are invited to a free breakfast event on Monday, February 23rd at 8:00 a.m. at the Akwesasne Casino. At that time, the two chambers will officially sign the Partnership Agreement and representatives of the North Country Chamber will provide presentations on the new services now available, including health insurance, electricity savings, small business programs, tourism marketing and other benefits. A complimentary full breakfast buffet will be provided.
