Jane Collins will be retiring at the end of this school year after eight years of dedicated service to the Salmon River Central School District. The SRCS Board would like to thank her for her leadership and commitment to the students, staff and community.
The Salmon River Board of Education is nearing the end of its comprehensive search process for the next Superintendent of Schools. The deadline for applications is January 30, 2015 by the end of the business day. The search process is being canvassed statewide by the FEH BOCES District Superintendent, Stephen Shafer.
Initial interviews will be held by the Board of Education on March 10 and March 11, 2015. There will be three committees who will participate in the second interview process on March 18, 2015. The Board is seeking persons to serve on the following committees:
The employee committee will be comprised of 14 representatives, 4 representatives from the CSEA, 4 representatives from the Teachers’ Association, 2 representatives from the Administrators’ Association, 2 District Officials and 2 Management/Confidential employees.
The Community Committee will be comprised of 10 representatives, none of them being Salmon River employees. There will be a total of 10 people on this committee. 3 representatives will be from Fort Covington - 1 being a senior citizen, 2 representatives from Westville, 2 representatives from Bombay, and 3 representatives from Akwesasne - 1 being a senior citizen.
The Mohawk Education Committee will be comprised of 10 representatives; none will be Salmon River employees.
Persons interested in serving on the Community Committee are to notify Maureen Dustin in the District Office at 358-6610. The Salmon River CSEA President, SRTA Presidents, and the SRAA President shall determine those members to serve on this committee within their bargaining units and then submit names to Mrs. Dustin. Parents are encouraged to serve on the Community and Mohawk Education Committees. The Board will ultimately screen all committee member recommendations and have final say in who will serve on these committees.
The process is as follows; Second interviews will be conducted on March 18th. Final selection will be at a special meeting on March 25th.Appointment will be made at a special meeting on April 13th. New Superintendent assumes duties on July 1, 2015.
