A Voice from the Eastern Door
Some intense hockey action in the minor ranks took place last week on Cornwall Island. The Akwesasne Wolves Novice "B" team played South Stormont to a 3-3 tie last Monday Jan. 5. Dayne Thomas scored twice while adding an assist as Wyatt Landry added one. Ryder Sunday picked up two assists. Ethan Beaudette scored twice and Logan Currier scored once for South Stormont.
In the next game that night the Akwesasne Wolves Bantams defeated Cornwall 5-2.
Brayden Barilko and Rowisonkies Barnes scored two each and added an assist. Gage King added one. Keldren King and Jake Cook also added assists. Nick Miller and Carter Bowman notched the visitors' goals.
The next evening also on Cornwall Island the Wolves Novice "C", despite having a short bench, blanked Charlan 4-0. Sako Rice scored a hat trick, and added an assist.
Alexander Delormier added the other goal and an assist. Bram Herne and Royce Thomas assisted twice.
On Tuesday night's final game the Wolves entertained Kemptville. This game was delayed as Akwesasne starting net-minder Bentley Gray arrived feeling under the weather before the game time and Warren Oakes put on the pads. This game was evenly matched as the first two periods ended in a scoreless tie. Kemptville pulled away in the third period with four goals while holding the Wolves Atoms team off the scoreboard for the 4-0 win.
