The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Economic Development Program invites designers, artisans and craftspeople to submit conceptual drawings for custom made outdoor furniture/products for various Trails and Parks Projects, including the Akwesasne Trails Development Initiative.
MCA has been working with renowned trails consultants’ modemaps inc. and Sustainable Trails (who have designed and developed trails in 7 different countries) to bring trails to the 3 districts of Akwesasne. As a part of the contract, MCA has stipulated that ALL outdoor furniture/products will be designed and made by the people of Akwesasne. Additionally, the trails consultants would like to use outdoor furniture/products for other projects created by the people of Akwesasne.
Outdoor furniture/products includes benches, chairs, tables, bike racks, trash cans, etc. made from concrete, wood, steel and other materials that can withstand the elements.
Successfully chosen designers/craftspeople may be contracted by the trail consultants and considered for future projects (and receive 100% of the profit).
Submissions will be accepted up until 4:00 p.m. on Monday February 2nd, 2015, and must be directed to:
