The Seaway Valley Rapids Minor Atom team continued its storybook season against the Ottawa Silver Seven on Wednesday, November 26. The Rapids got out to a fast start with Carey Terrance, Jr. scoring in the opening minutes of play on an assist from Marco McCarthy. Carey went on to have a great night with a hat trick, McCarthy also scored 2, as did Ethan Montroy. Assists went to Carson Martin (x2), Jett Jock, and Jonah Ashby. It was a great night for the Rapids. They walked away with a 7-0 win with Tristan Shoniker earning the shutout.
The Rapids did not rest on their laurels; action resumed at home Friday, November 28th against the Ottawa Sting in a game presented by the Tarbell Management Group. The Sting came ready to play and got the lead early in the first period. The Rapids quickly responded when Carey Terrance, Jr., got a pass from Jimmy Sullivan and scored. At the end of the first period the score remained tied at 1-1. At the beginning of the second period, the Rapids got stung when the Sting jumped ahead to lead 2-1. The Rapids' Ethan Montroy evened it up a minute later on a pass from defenseman Jonah Ashby. Connor Fox made some outstanding saves to keep the game tied. It was not until late in the third that Jett Jock got the go-ahead goal from Ashby. The last goal of the night was an empty-netter from Carey Terrance, Jr. for a final score of 4-2.
The Rapids saw action again on Sunday night against the Rideau St. Lawrence Kings in a game presented by Cartunes Audio. It was the team's second match-up after meeting on opening day where the teams tied. Unfortunately for the Rapids, the Kings skated away with a 7-3 win. Carson Martin, Jimmy Sullivan and Carey Terrance, Jr. each scored with Martin getting the only assist of the game.
The Seaway Valley Rapids Minor Atom team opened a busy weekend against the top-ranked Gloucester Rangers (white) on Friday, December 5, 2014, at the Benson Centre in a game sponsored by Markell Retailing. Although, the Rapids got off to a great start and were pressuring the Rangers, the Rangers were the only team to score in the first period. The Rangers scored again in the second period and again in the third period on a power play. With the Rangers up 3-0, Carey Terrance, Jr. scored in the closing seconds of the game on an assist from Braxton D'alessio for a final score of 3-1.
The Rapids played at home again on Saturday, December 6, in a game presented by Cornwall Warehousing Ltd. The Rapids were looking to end a two-game losing skid against the Nepean Raiders. It was a game that saw no scoring until the third period, when the Raiders scored. Ethan Montroy from the Rapids, scored unassisted to tie it up. In the final two minutes of the game, Carey Terrance, Jr. got the go-ahead goal on a pass from Jett Jock. The final score was 2-1 for the Rapids and it ended the team's drought.
The Rapids played again at home on Sunday, December 7, in a game presented by Page Automotive, against the Eastern Ontario Cobras. After winning the day before, the Rapids were playing with more confidence. The Rapids's Jock scored within the first minute of play on an assist from D'alessio. The Rapids then took advantage of a power play in the second period when Montroy got the rebound after defenseman Josh Esford blasted it from the blue line. The Cobras, however, also took advantage of two power plays when they were able to score each time. The game was tied going into the third period. In the opening minute of the third period, Esford got the puck during a face-off, he carried the puck and blasted it to make the score 3-2. The Cobras were not deterred and scored halfway through the third to tie it up. Net minder, Connor Fox, made some terrific saves during the game to keep the game tight. The Rapids's Terrance then got the go-ahead goal in the final seconds of the game when he and Jock connected. A little more than midway through the season, the Rapids are tied for second in the league with a record of 11-3-3 for total of 25 points.
