The Mohawks of Akwesasne Community Settlement Trust Progress Report Available on Facebook

The appointed Community Trustees for the Mohawks of Akwesasne Community Settlement Trust have been active since January 2014 in the development and implementation of the Ontario Power Generation and Kahwenoke Easter Brooke Settlement Trusts. As previously reported to the Community, the Trust Agreement was constituted on July 21st, 2014 as approved and signed by the MCA and the Community Trustees.

We are pleased to provide a Progress Report on the activities of the Community Trustees in the preparation, development and implementation of the Settlement Trust. Pending full implementation of the Trust and while we are in transition of the Trust Settlement from the MCA; we can provide this Progress Report on a newly created Face Book page called “Mohawks of Akwesasne Community Settlement Trust” which will be devoted to the Trust activities. Once the transition has occurred; the Trustees anticipate many key activities to unfold including: Community Information Sessions, delineation of community priorities, release of the proposal process to access benefits, repayment of pre-trust expenses, creation of Trust website and regular communications with the Akwesasne Community. It has been our privilege to work on this important development that will serve to benefit the Mohawks of Akwesasne for many generations.
