On Thursday, November 20, in celebration of National Childs Day, a Talent Show and Art Gallery was held at the St. Regis Mohawk School. The event was sponsored by Mohawk Council of Akwesasne's Akwesasne Child & Family Services, Mohawk Council of Akwesasne's Economic Development Program, Akwesasne Chamber of Commerce and the CHASE Committee (Wholistic Health, Community Health Representatives, ACFS).
In the gym was the art show, where vendors sold their goods. There was quite the variety, from sweet treats, to jewelry, paintings, drawings and crafts. Many of the vendors were making a bit of cash, and some had business cards to hand out in hopes of future sales. The multipurpose room was the spot to see some talented kids. There were close to 30 acts for the talent show, and MC was Anthony Tillman while Bryan the Blues Man was DJ. There was tons of food and great prizes for the kids.
"This is an amazing collaboration of efforts. We hope to have monthly venue and more business training," said one organizer Dana Skye. For the training, it can be a service too, like lawn care or babysitting, not just art.
Dana said, "This event is for the kids. They all got a medallion for participating that says "The Creators Gift" on it, because they are all special. And the Mohawk school has been incredible. They have been accommodating and helpful. Thanks to them for letting use it."
Casey Swamp, from the Akwesasne Chamber of Commerce, did the business training session. He said, "The kids took it and ran with it, and I'm so proud."

"This event was a huge success, all the kids rock!" added Dana.
