The Massena Red Raiders football season has come to a close as they fell to the Queensbury Spartans 48-0 in the first round of state playoffs. The two met in Potsdam on Friday, Nov. 14. Despite the blowout, Massena’s Nolan Terrance recorded four tackles and forced a fumble, in addition to his efforts on the offensive line.
Queensbury blasted in 27 unanswered points in the first quarter.
Their first touchdown came on a 65-yard pass. Two of those that followed came after recovering a Raider fumble.
The Spartans capped off the opening stanza with touchdowns in the second, third and fourth frames.
The Spartans eliminated Massena from last year’s state playoffs, also a shutout.
Other Massena notables included Jason Zembeck running for 63 yards and Isaiah Dillabough recording 33 yards. Bobby Todd fashioned seven tackles and Matt Thibeault garnered three.
Massena’s record for the 2014 season is 5-5.
