Ontario Power Generation Presents Iohahi:io with New Laptops

The Ontario Power Generation has been developing a relationship with Mohawk Council of Akwesasne since the signing of the Final Settlement Agreement in 2008. Since then, the Ontario Power Generation (OPG) has been strengthening its bond with Mohawk Council and the community of Akwesasne, not only by providing funds, but also knowledge to the many programs and projects of Akwesasne through the Capacity Building Initiatives.

Most recently the OPG presented Iohahi:io with new laptops and a mobile cart to complement the current curriculums and to supplement current educational resources in the classroom. Most importantly, the mobile unit would facilitate Iohahi:io online courses. The mobile laptop unit will complement Iohahi:io's computer lab which is currently used to full capacity. Providing additional computer technology is essential for students and teachers alike in completing assignments, building necessary skills for students preparing to enter the workforce and keeping current with today's information technological demands.

Margaret Lafrance, Assistant Program Manager of Iohahi:io, submitted the proposal for new laptops and a mobile cart and the contribution made by OPG will be greatly appreciated by Iohahi:io students, faculty and staff.
