The Akwesasne Communication Society Holds Annual Meeting Wednesday Night

Akwesasne – On Wednesday night, October 22nd, the Akwesasne Communication Society held its annual meeting at the Tsi Snaihne Recreation Center. On the agenda was the election of two new board members. Elected to the Board are Victor Martin and Kyrie Ransom. Both individuals come with a variety of experience that will greatly enhance the abilities of the Board to provide oversight to the CKON radio station. The re-appointment of Charlene Derocher as CKON legal counsel was re-confirmed during the meeting. BDO LLP reviewed the year-end financial statements and answered questions. The Board did not re-confirm BDO as the auditors for next year as a Request For Proposal will be done to solicit proposals.

Effective October 23, 2014 the official Board of Directors for the Akwesasne Communication Society are: Matthew Thompson, President, William Phillips, Vice-President, Victor Martin, Treasurer, Vicki Wood, Secretary, Julia Back-Skidders, Alice Thompson, Isabelle F. McDonald, Kyrie Ransom, and Barbara Montour.
