A Voice from the Eastern Door
On Friday September 12, the St. Regis Mohawk School held an evacuation drill for the entire school. Students, teachers and staff, in conjunction with Tribal Police and the Hogansburg-Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department, practiced how and where to go in case of an emergency that required a full-scale evacuation. They first walked to Wild Bills the initial meeting place, and then on to the Seniors Center with help from police and firefighters shutting down the road to allow safe passage. The drill was a success. St. Regis Mohawk School staff encourage parents to talk to their children about safety issues. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact the school at 358-2673.
