1st Annual Pete Mitchell Memorial DIRTcar Sportsman Series Race on Saturday, September 13th, 6pm

AKWESASNE, NY – This weekend’s Mohawk Nationals just got a little sweeter for the Sportsman division, as the 1st annual Pete Mitchell Memorial DIRTcar Sportsman Series will now be the highest paid Sportsman event in the history of Mohawk International Raceway with the winner taking home $2500 in the now 75 lap main event plus lap money and other contingency awards. A 5 lap dash for cash will also take place, featuring the top 2 cars from each qualifying heat race and will pay $1000 to win.

The race leader at lap 54 will receive a $500 bonus from Mohawk International Raceway.  The 18th place car at lap 54 will receive $100 courtesy of Pete Mitchell’s brothers (Ray, Brian, Merv, Dion, Keon & Al), the 18th place finisher and the leader at lap 18 will also receive a $100 bonus from our friends at HAVFD. Fast time will receive $100 courtesy of Shane Mitchell, and awards will also be given out to furthest traveler to MIR, and the hard charger of the race. More contingency awards may be added before Saturday’s event.
