Snake Island Muskies increase winning streak to five games, Outlawz take win after losing two

The Snake Island Muskies continued their nearly month-long winning streak after claiming wins over Akwesasne, Tyendinaga and Caughnawaga. They hold first place in the Three Nations Senior Lacrosse League with a 9-1 record.

Meanwhile, the Akwesasne Outlawz took their first win in three games on Sunday, June 29 and hold second place with a 9-4 record.

The Muskies most recent tilt ended in a lopsided win over the Tyendinaga Wolfpack on Saturday, June 28 at Kahnawake Sports Complex.

Snake Island sent their opponents back home with a 20-3 loss.

Cody Kilcoyne carried the Muskies with nine goals and six assists. Trent Jacobs fashioned a pair of goals and six assists. Shane Francis recorded a hat trick and Trent Jacobs registered two goals and four assists. Lee Thomas scored twice and tallied a pair of helpers. Chad Thompson and Paul Ward each garnered a goal and four assists. Jake Lazore and Korin Sunday each notched a pair of helpers. Trey Adams worked the crease and was credited a win.

For the Wolfpack, Tatie Moses, Jamie McComber and Karontase Jacobs put marks on the scoreboard. Brendan Bradley assisted twice. Matthew Bordeau and Doug Huff recorded one assist each. Jesse Stacy and Okwi Stacy split netminding detail. Jesse Stacy spent 31 minutes on the floor and allowed 14 goals. Okwi Stacy was between the pipes for 29 minutes, allowed six goals and added a loss to his record.

On Thursday, June 26 at Deseronto Recreation Centre, the Muskies beat the Wolfpack, this time by a final tally of 15-9.

Shane Francis (four goals, six assists) and Clayton Barnes (five goals, two assists) led the offensive charge. Ryan Oakes recorded a hat trick and a helper. Wallace Thompson (three assists), Paul Ward (one assist) and Russ Cree all scored once. Chad Thompson assisted three plays, Trent Jacobs two and Jake Lazore one. Jacobs was credited with the win in nets.

On the Tyendinaga side, Scott Edwards (three assists), Isaac Maracle (two assists) and Victor Green each fashioned a pair of goals. Greg Reilly (five assists), Sako Swamp (one assist) and Shane Ward (one assist) scored one goal each. Andrew Maracle added a loss to his record.

On Saturday, June 21, the Muskies took down the Akwesasne Outlawz 9-6.

Akwesasne’s Jarrett Jacobs was the squad’s top scorer with a pair of goals and a helper. Nick Sanseverino (one assist), Neil Hopps (one assist), Devon George and Derek Hopps all recorded single markers. Dwight Bero and Brandon Swamp each tallied two assists. Goalie Ni McComber was credited a loss.

Muskies netminder Jake Lazore added a win to his record. Individual statistics for the rest of the team were not available.

Following their loss to Snake Island, the Outlawz regained their footing on Sunday, June 29 beating the Wolfpack 23-3 at Anowarakowa Arena.

Jarrett Jacobs was the game high-scorer with five goals and six assists. Cory Thompson (three assists) and Josh Jacobs fashioned four goals each. Adam Delormier recorded a trio in goals and in assists. Devon George (four assists), Jore Phoenix (two assists) and Shawn Fontaine (one assist) each scored two goals. Tekeri Thompson tallied a goal and five assists. Matt Thompson garnered three helpers. Goaltender Dan Phillips was credited a win.

Greg Reilly led the Wolfpack with two goals and an assist. Shane Ward scored once. Scott Edwards and Jamie Brant each assisted once. Andrew Maracle, their goalkeeper, was credited a loss.

The Outlawz narrowly lost to the Caughnawaga Indians on Thursday, June 19 at Kahnawake Sports Complex.

Jamie McComber led the Indians offense with two goals and four assists.

Jarrett Jacobs headed the Outlawz with a pair of goals and three assists.
