Aboriginal Day Celebration Held at Anowarakowa Arena

National Aboriginal Day was celebrated last Saturday on Cornwall Island. The Girls Got Game Lacrosse tournament was being held inside the arena, and outside there were activities for the kids and parents alike.

Local vendors were on hand demonstrating their artwork and collections, and on stage local young talent were entertaining the crowd.

A Talent Show was held with singing and dancing on the venue as well as a Hoop dancing presentation and the ever-popular bounce houses.

Kiawentiio Tarbell was the winner of that Talent show. She sang a song in Mohawk called the Cup Song.

London Lazore won second as she sang along to the Spice Girls "Wannabe." Ever Tasse-Philips was the third place winner and Chanelle Thompson won fourth place.

The kids also had a chance to make some native arts and crafts and Feryn King put on a Hoop Dance presentation called Hip-Hop Hoop Dance.

There were also food sales tied into the fundraising efforts of the girl's lacrosse teams inside the arena and local artisans showing their skills.
