4-H Mighty Shamrocks Talent Show 2014

Nerves and excitement swirled through the air of the Salmon River High School auditorium on the night of the second annual 4-H Mighty Shamrocks "You Got Talent" Show.

On Wednesday, June 11, 17 acts performed on stage in front of about 400 people. Acts varied from singing to playing instruments to hoop and ribbon dancing.

There were solo singers, groups of singers, duets, a rapper, Mohawk singers and drummers and a special guest performance by Mr. Tim Gray. A few Salmon River staff members, Mr. David Bish and Mr. Tim Davey, delighted the audience with their guitar playing and singing, especially when they brought the "King" on stage...Robert King that is.

Matt Healy, a Salmon River alumni and hockey standout, was on hand to speak to the audience, especially the youth, about how hard work and dedication can help to achieve goals. He has taken his talents to the collegiate level and is doing very well despite an illness that almost put an end to his hockey career.

Ms. Reen Cook from CKON 97.3 FM did an excellent job as the Master of Ceremony. Mr. Bill Seward took care of the awesome lighting and sound.

"All the acts were fantastic," commented 4-H coordinator, Connie Gerow. Just having the courage to stand up on stage and perform is wonderful. Each act whether individual, duet or group was a class act."

The top three People's Choice Awards were determined by the votes submitted by the audience. The third place award of $20 went to Samantha Stevens. Tyler Durkee took second place and $30, while Raylynn Sunday claimed the top prize of $50.

By the end of the night, it was clear that Salmon River is filled with talent.
