A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino Resort said they would bring entertainment to the North Country and on Thursday night they delivered with a Darryl Worley concert. The Winter Ballroom was done up for the occasion complete with a rustic wooden backdrop and mason jar lights to set the mood for a night of great country music. Johnny Taco from Wild Country 96.5 introduced Darryl and the concert began.
Not only is Darryl an amazing singer he is a storyteller and comedian. Worley is a traditional country artist, joined by his lead guitarist Jeff Jared and Steve Ledford on bass and harmony.
Worley sang his biggest hits including "Awful Beautiful Life," "I Miss My Friend" and he closed the show with "Have You Forgotten." He also sang songs including "Good Day to Run," "Tennessee River Run," and sang a request from the crowd, "Family Tree." He even sang one lucky concert-goer Happy Birthday!
Many of the songs he sang came with a story. Before he sang "Sounds Like Life to Me," he explained that his father would always say that. He sang his mother's favorite song, "Second Wind," and talked about how she told him that it helped her get through a rough time.
Before he sang "Have You Forgotten" Darryl said, "Remember the people who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The people who will stand between us and anyone who wants to harm us."
After, Darryl stayed for a meet and greet and he posed for pictures with fans and signed autographs. He reportedly even hung out with fans into the night at the Cascades Lounge.
