The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, Akwesasne Justice Department, is seeking nine community members to sit on the Community Review Panel.
The Community Review Panel Charter mandates panel members to review the suitability of community members, who are currently incarcerated, for early release from a Federal Institution. Panel members will make their decision as per agreement between Akwesasne Justice Department and Correctional Service Canada under Section 84 of the Correctional & Conditional Release Act (CCRA).
The Akwesasne Justice Department is looking for three members from each district, Tsi Snaihne, Kanatakon, and Kawenoke to sit on the Community Review Panel for a five year period. The community review panel is made up of nine Akwesasne members age twenty-five and over; must be of good character and must have a clean criminal record.
A criminal records check is required of all interested persons. An oath of confidentiality will be administered before your appointment becomes effective to serve as a community review panel member.
