FULL-TIME - TERM POSITION (6 Months) (with the possibility of permanency) AKWESASNE CHILD & FAMILY SERVICES
Salary: HS - 11 – Salary Under Review
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the direct supervision of the Case Management Unit Coordinator, the Child Protection Worker is responsible for ensuring the protection of children and for providing support for children taken into care. Also responsible for preparation of court documents, attendance and participation in court proceedings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors in Social Work preferred, Bachelors in related field accepted. Minimum of two years work experience in Social Work required.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills; must have the ability to work in crisis situations with children and families and must be thoroughly familiar with relevant legislations in Ontario and Quebec, regulations, guidelines, and procedures according to the Akwesasne Child and Family Services. Must understand and adhere to strict principles of confidentiality and Social Work Code of Ethics. Must have a class ‘G’ driver’s license and be willing to use personal vehicle in the performance of job duties. Ability to speak the Mohawk language and knowledge of the Akwesasne community is an asset.
