CARPENTER LABOUR PROGRAM DISCONTINUED

TERRITORY OF AKWESASNE – The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne’s Department of Housing is notifying the community that the Carpenter Labour Program has been discontinued.  The program’s final day of operation is April 28, 2014.

All community members who require carpentry services, on existing or new construction homes, will be responsible for obtaining their own carpenter.  The Dept. of Housing will no longer have carpenters on staff.

The decision to end the Carpenter Labour Program was based partially on the need to reduce the Dept. of Housing’s program deficit.  It was also made as an operational decision to improve the program’s effectiveness in assisting community members with the administrative needs related to housing loans and construction.

The Dept. of Housing and Mohawk Council wishes to thank the staff in the Carpenter Labour Program for their efforts and dedicated years of service. Nia:wen kowa.
