Kanatakon Headstart Morning Cultural Lesson

Every morning, Headstart teachers Anen Wheesk and Kanerahtaroroks have Kakwiroton Oakes come into their class at the Kanatakon School. Kakwiroton teaches what you could call a cultural lesson. He starts by holding up pictures of things such as the four winds and the moon. Through these pictures the students learn the basic components of the Ohen:ton Karihwatehkwen. Then Kakwiroton leads the class in songs. Lastly the class is learning dances and on Tuesday they did the Round, Smoke and Alligator dances. Students who participated on Tuesday morning were: Ononhkwako:wa Arquette, Wahtaniotkaweh Caldwell, Iewentsiiostha Cole, Rohatiio Francis, Ratateweniio Jacobs, Kanatonni Jock, Ranonkwatsheronni Laffin, Tekarahkwaneken Lazore, Tekaroniote Lazore, Kanentsiontontha Mitchell, Daphny Realza, Shakohare Thompson and Iohontase Lazore.
