On Saturday night a Fashion/Hairstyling Show was held in the Snye Rec gym as part of the 2014 Akwesasne Winter Carnival. The show was coordinated by Katy Tarbell with help from several partners. Before the show began, Tara Tarbell of The Indigenous Spa did a presentation on a Bio Slimming Body Wrap. Tara demonstrated the wrap on a very brave volunteer and at the end of the show she was deemed to lose a couple inches with just one treatment. Lisa Jock also presented on Essential Oils and had a booth at the show.
The Fashion Show began with children and toddlers showing off casual, elegant and swimwear. The teen girls then came showing various styles of clothing and hair, with a couple of bridal and flower girl dresses being showed as well.
The last set included an announcement that Tisha Thompson, Lauren Cree and Vanna White have come together to bring a new business to Akwesasne. A Facebook contest held to name their business was unveiled and the business will be called Beautylicious a name that Ashley Mitchell picked.
Stylists for the show included Teneya Mitchell, Denelle Mitchell, Lisa Jock, Katy Tarbell, Herbi Francis and Tanisha Thompson.
