Mixed Martial Arts Fight Benefits Ieweras Gray

Ieweras Gray is a fighter, a fighter who is stronger than most of the young men participating in a Benefit MMA fight on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the St. Lawrence Centre Arena. Gray has been battling Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) since the age of 5. ALL is a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. In the past year, after numerous treatments and hospital stays her cancer returned in the form of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) affecting the red and white blood cells as they mature and grow. The white blood cells mature too quickly and interfere with the production of red blood cells.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Casino held a benefit fashion show and MMA fighter Brett "The Hitman" Hart attended. Once there, he was so inspired by her fight with cancer he knew he had to meet her in person. The moment he was introduced to Gray, he then knew he had to do something to help.

"Once I met Ieweras I knew I had to do something. She is a fighter every single day. I fight only inside the cage. She is the real fighter," stated Hart.

Hart quickly contacted his coach Cory LaPlant and they immediately decided the February 1, 2014 event would donate a portion of the proceeds directly to Ieweras Gray and family.

This is a fully sanctioned Mixed Martial Arts Fight, doors will open at 5:00pm and fights will start at 6:00pm with a short intermission for presentations. Besides Brett "The Hitman" Hart, Randy "Rambo" Lamb will be fighting inside the cage. The evening should prove to be exciting as Hart and Lamb are both fighting for their championship belt. According to Coach LaPlant, "Ieweras is fighting a bigger fight than any of us have ever fought. Brett Hart was immediately inspired by meeting Ieweras, she is strong and a fighter herself.

Tickets start at $30.00 and children under 12 are free. This event also offers a limited quantity of ringside seats. Tickets are available now at the St. Lawrence Centre Arena, Massena, NY.
