AMPS Executes Warrant for Jocko

Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service - On Wednesday, January 28th, 2014 the Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service executed a Feeney Warrant of Arrest and a Warrant to Search at a residence on Kawehnoke. Mitchell Lahache Jocko, age 32 was arrested on outstanding Arrest Warrants. The Arrest Warrants for Jocko, issued from the Ontario Provincial Court, are for complaints of Uttering Threats, Assault, Mischief and Breach of Conditions.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police were also investigating an occurrence of shots fired at a vehicle on the Ice Bridge near St. Regis Island on the evening of January 27, 2014. Jocko is alleged to have been involved in this incident and charges are pending against him which will be heard in Quebec Provincial Court, Valleyfield, Quebec.

Members of the Akwesasne Mohawk Police uniformed patrol and Investigations Team executed the Search Warrant with assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Tactical and Rescue Unit and Emergency Response Team shortly before the noon hour.

Cornwall Island Road East was temporarily closed to traffic for approximately 10 minutes by police until the situation was cleared of any potential threats. Police Chief Jerry Swamp said that the road closure was an extended measure of the operations plan for a safe Warrant execution. “Public safety is our top priority,” stated Swamp.

Jocko remains in custody and will be appearing at the Cornwall Provincial Court House. Police cannot disclose what was located in the search as there is an ongoing investigation.
