The Gouverneur Wildcats wrestling squad took down the Massena Red Raiders on Wednesday, Jan. 15 in Massena.
Jacob Beckwith took the 220-pound bout for Gouverneur, pinning Dakota Bernard in 2:24.
Akwesasne resident Nolan Terrance, who has last year's state championship under his belt, pinned Mason Wing in the 285-pound class in 1:45.
Red Raider Nathan Marshall took his 99th career win by pinning Derick Stowell in 1:08. They grappled in the 113-pound class.
In the 120-pound division, Daniel Mullin of Gouverneur took a 15 – 4 decision over Skyler Cameron.
Wildcat Joey Bush claimed a 9 – 0 decision over Michael Brown in the 126-pound bout.
In the 132-pound class, Aaron Bush of the Gouverneur contingent beat Gavin Perrine by a 13 – 5 decision.
Wildcat Zach Ayen, weighing in at 145 pounds, pinned Austin Amo in 4:45.
Joey Love garnered a win for Gouverneur in the 152-pound division, a 13 – 2 decision over Quinton Colter.
Arden Ball of Gouverneur claimed a 7 – 2 decision over Dan Elman in the 160-pound class.
Massena's Hunter Perrine claimed the 170-pound bout, pinning Marty Countryman in three minutes.
The 182-pound class went to Gouverneur's Justin Garrison, an 18 – 8 decision over Cameron Tarbell.
Wins by forfeit went to Massena's Jeremy Malone, 195 pounds and Brian Plourde, 99 pounds. Gouverneur's Zach Forsythe, 138 pounds and Michael Lebow, 106 pounds also won by forfeit.
"We are having a good season, we just had a bad night. We also have some kids out of the lineup that could have made a difference," Massena Coach Scott Perrine said via email. "Hopefully, the next time things will be different."
Massena has two upcoming bouts, against the Canton Golden Bears at home on Wednesday, Jan. 22 and in Ogdensburg against the OFA Blue Devils on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m.
