A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Salmon River girls' basketball team had the ability to make the game interesting. What it didn't have was time. The visiting Lady Raiders had built a lead 18-13 lead going into the locker rooms at half time and kept the lead to earn the 50-43 win over Salmon River.
The Raiders came out in the second half to work and pulled ahead, 39-26, by the end of the third quarter. The Lady Shamrocks had a power surge in the fourth and used their free throws to outscore the Red Raiders 17-11, and had cut the deficit to seven points at the end of regulation time.
Senior Jaiden Mitchell lead the Lady Shamrocks with 16 points followed by fellow senior Kwiio King with 10 points. Eighth grader Lexis Jacobs netted five points while Jocelyn Martin and Brittany Brooks added four points each. Taylor Francis tallied three points.
Samantha Villnave tossed through a team high 16 points for Massena. Jessica Rode added 10 points and Bailee Young followed with nine. Jaylee Jones netted five points while Sophia Rusaw dropped in four. Stephanie McKeel and Devin Kelly rounded out the scoring with three points each.
The Lady Shamrocks had defeated Massena earlier in the season 59-50.
