A Voice from the Eastern Door
The Akwesasne Police Association hosted the 2nd Annual Law Enforcement Hockey Tournament on Jan. 10th, 2014 at the Anowarakowa Arena. This year's tournament consisted of six teams; AMPS/Tribal Police, Kahnawake, RCMP, Ottawa Police, Cornwall Police and US Border Patrol.
The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Hockey Team, comprised of AMPS and Tribal Police members, continue to emphasize the importance of youth sports for healthier lives. We continue our commitment to the community with fund raising efforts towards local youth organizations, sports organizations and special need events.
This year's tournament raised funds for the Akwesasne Minor Lacrosse Association and the Akwesasne Minor Hockey Association. Both organizations received $1,200. We would like send a special appreciation to the Akwesasne Coalition for Community Empowerment Group for their assistance in the concession stand.
