TERRITORY OF AKWESASNE – This week Akwesasne will be experiencing a “cold snap” with temperatures dropping below zero Fahrenheit. When/if there is a power outage within the Territory of Akwesasne under the jurisdiction of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne, the Emergency Operation Center (EOC) will be activated and an emergency shelter will be opened at the local school within the district that has been affected.
Shelter Locations:
District of Tsi Snaihne - Tsi Snaihne School
District of Kana:takon – Kana:takon School
District of Kawehno:ke - Ahkwesahsne Mohawk School (AMS)
Once the EOC is activated, it will make preparations to open a shelter and it will inform the Community via CKON Radio 97.3 and MCA’s book page when the shelter is ready to accept community members.
